Night Sky Charts

The charts show the New Zealand night sky from latitude 40 south at the beginning of the months of December at 2am, January at midnight, February at 10pm and March at 8pm (sundown).  The location of Mars is shown for January 1st.  The planet is slowly moving westward and by February will be close to the Praesepe star cluster in Cancer.
