In Search of Goldilocks

The ultimate goal in the search for extra-solar planets is to discover another Earth.  To find another world with an advanced, abundant and diverse biology will surely be one of the most momentous discoveries of all time.  How common are Earth-like planets in the galaxy and where might we find them?  In this presentation Richard Hall will attempt to provide answers to these questions.

"A Close Look At The Neighbours - The Sculptor Group Of Galaxies."– Ian Cooper
A detailed look at our near inter-galactic neighbours in the faint southern constellation of Sculptor. At a mere 12 - 15 million light years away The Sculptor Group of galaxies offers up such notable gems as NGC's 253, 55, 300, 247 & 7793 amongst others. Some of this list are even visible in average binoculars. With a bit of luck we can take a journey around these brilliant neighbours through the telescopes at Ahiaruhe

Our observers evenings are dedicated to practical astronomy and include, weather permitting, telescope viewing.
